Apo Ruby conducted a Parents' Reading Workshop last Sept. 3 at The Master's Academy Home School in the Ortigas Center. Here's an excerpt from her experience:

We had a fullhouse; some 90 parents attended, more than what the school expected because there were those who didn't sign up but joined the Reading Workshop. David and Anna had to rush for additional photocopies. They helped in keeping the time during the timed-reading exercises and in distributing and collecting the handouts and comprehension tests. They were so quick to assist me in everything, from moving whiteboards, to emergency photocopying, to calling the technician to adjust the sound system. The Reading Workshop last Sept. 3 was successful, thanks to the very efficient help of David and Anna. The parents ended up clamoring for a 3-day Reading Workshop, just like what their kids had! Many expressed great satisfaction with both their kids' workshop and theirs and a desire to learn more reading techniques. Sadly, the Home School turned down their request for a full-blown Parents' Reading Workshop because of the school's tight schedule. Nevertheless, the parents persisted and now they have initiated organizing a Reading Workshop outside of the school scheduled for November.
