April 27-28 2005: BASA volunteers drove to La Union to support the Philippine Association of School Librarians convention in RELC, Pagdalagen, San Fernando, La Union. Fr. Ted Gonzales, SJ who spearheads the BASA initiative, shared his dream about alternative leadership and readership in the Philippines to about 85 librarians representing Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The delegates had a few ideas to share about fundraising for their school libraries and networking with other librarians.

BASA compiled delegate information for a future librarian database and distributed handouts about librarians of the future (Next Generation Librarians) as well as a compilation of inspiring Filipino stories entitled Agimat ni Apo. Please write us if you would like to receive a complimentary copy of Next Generation Librarians to share with your local public libraries.
